Yearly Events
Feel free to have a look through at various events we host throughout the year. If you are interested in any of them feel free to get in touch and we will do our best to help you out.
Wiltshire Steam and Vintage Rally
This is our main event we hold during the year. On the first full weekend of June, we host a rally, open to anyone who wishes to attend with an exhibit and the general public. These exhibits include, but are not limited to, Tractors, Full Size and Miniature Steam, Classic Cars and Caravans, Motorbikes, Military Vehicles, Awning and Model Displays and Stationary Engines. There's something for everyone here such as Arena Displays, a Fun Fair, Craft, and Trade.
Easter Road Run
For the first time, in 2024, we hosted a road run on Easter Weekend. The hope is to make this an annual event that is open to anyone who wants to participate with both old and new vehicles. The events starts early morning with everyone meeting for breakfast before setting off on a pre selected route with a stop about halfway for some lunch. We aim to drive through smaller towns and villages for all the locals to come and see us drive through. Dressing up for the occasion is encouraged with a prize to the best dressed.
Halloween Road Run
For the first time ever, the main committee has handed an event over to the youth committee to plan and execute. We have created a brand new event for them to have free rein with. They have sat down and planned out a route starting at the Sustain Farm Shop in Wootton Bassett on 27th October at 8am. The route is scenic, with two stop and local village pubs on the way. Once again, fancy dress is being encouraged for the road run with a prize for the best dressed. They have also recommended that vehicles also arrive in fancy dress.
Christmas Road Run
Our biggest road run of the year has always been our Christmas Road Run and has proved popular since we began the event. People come from all over to Wroughton where we have begun our road run. The Chairman has driven a tractor towing a trailer designed with a sleigh and a few of us dressed up as Father Christmas and his elves to bring some Christmas joy to everyone that sees us go past. We have always arranged with the REME Museum for a brief lunch stop on the way to warm up again before heading back out on the road.
Santa Run
Last year, we decided that it would be a lovely idea to get a Santa run around two local villages on the two nights leading up to Christmas Day. We came together to get a sleigh and costumes so that we could walk alongside as elves handing out sweets to the local children who came out to see Santa. It also functioned as a charity event for those who wished to also donate with all proceeds going to our two chosen charities. Following our success last year, we have decided as a committee that we will be doing a Santa run every weekend in December leading up to Christmas to get to more local villages and spread some extra Christmas Cheer.
Carnivals
After attending Pewsey Carnival this year, the Chairman and Assistant Secretary have been inspired. Together, they have planned to enter two floats into a couple of carnivals next year. The theme and design of the carnival floats will be decided by the committee in the coming months so that more preparation can be done for this, but we hope to get the name of the WAPG seen a lot more in different places whilst also helping out other charities doing so.
